The Blue Lagoon has not only the lagoon existence to geothermal activity but the entire facility—from the shower rooms to the café lights—is powered by geothermal energy. There are two things you should keep in mind before going to the Blue Lagoon. The first one is to don't forget to use the conditioner because your hair might be a little bit dry after you enter the water. It is also good to use it before you enter the area, to protect your hair as much as possible. The second thing is to leave your jewelry in your bag. As for your jewelry, best to keep it in your locker, it can be hard to find a fallen earring in the cloudy blue water of the Blue Lagoon.
The Blue Lagoon is situated southwest of Iceland, between Keflavík International Airport and Reykjavík. The closest town to Blue Lagoon is Gríndavík. The Blue Lagoon is approximately 50 kilometers from Reykjavik.
If you are planning to go to Blue Lagoon with your child, remember that the child has to be a minimum of 2 years old. This rule is included, just because the blue mineral waters of Blue Lagoon, might be not sensitive to babies' skin. Remember that for kids younger than 8 years, the floaties are a must to wear, but no worries, if you don't own any, floaties for free are available for rent just at the entrance to the Blue Lagoon.
It is known that pregnant women shouldn't enter warm/hot waters, not only at the Blue Lagoon but on the other side, it really depends on women itself. There is no restriction for pregnant women to go, but for some pregnant women, warm waters might be very unpleasant and harmful, while for others not. That's why is it important to talk to your care provider before you go.
The weather in Iceland changes very often, especially in the wintertime. If the weather is really bad, the tour will be canceled for your safety, and also, if the weather in Iceland is really bad, most of the roads are closed, so there is no chance to get to the Blue Lagoon. Don't be sad if this happens, you can always pre-book your Blue Lagoon Tour for another day, or if you won't be able to make it because we will return you 100% of the price you paid.
Yes, you will of course need a swimsuit, towel, shampoo, and conditioner. As we wrote, it is probably nice for your hair to use conditioner before and after entering the water, so it won't be harmed in any way. And if you forget any of these things at home, don't worry, the Blue Lagoon will rent them to you. The burkini is of course allowed at the Blue Lagoon as well.
Yes, phones or other devices are not prohibited at Blue Lagoon. Just don't forget that you will be moving in the area, and it is smart to put your phone device into a waterproof case or bag.
Don't forget that the water at Blue Lagoon is not clear and it's warm. That's why swimming is not only prohibited but also not possible. Definitely put down all your jewelry before entering the waters, they might be destroyed since water contains many minerals.
