I was sick and had to cancel this trip. Gray Line were great. I had 2 tours booked. The woman at Gray Line first swapped the days of my tours, giving me more time to recover, so that I could take the shorter tour first. Then when I wasn't better by the next day, they refunded me for the 14-hour tour I just did not feel able to take. They really tried to make it work for me, and when it didn't, they were really understanding. I enjoyed very much the Golden Circle tour I was able to take.

After the tour, we were separated into groups and we boarded a van to get to our final destination. During that time, our daughter was already dizzy from motion sickness from the bus ride, and before we could get to our stop, she threw up. The driver was very kind in assuring us that it was fine, gave us bags, and even took us directly to the house where we were staying. This was much appreciated. The sights were good and Iceland was very beautiful. The tour guide was kind, but was self conscious and was having difficulty with the passengers' lack of enthusiastic response. It was because many were sleeping because it was dark the whole time during the morning.

We went early Jan this year (4.1.19) and had a fantastic time. Tanja, our guide, led the tour really well. She was warm, friendly and extremely helpful. At the end of the tour, she came up to each one of us answering any questions that we had about our stay in Iceland. I thought this was really impressive given that we were a big group. We visited two waterfalls and had 30 minutes at each which I found sufficient to walk behind Seljalandfoss to take photos (luckily the path was open as it tends to be closed during winter) and to walk up the path to see Skogafoss from above (had to walk briskly though). We stopped by Vik twice for lunch and dinner where there were cafes, a rrather large convenience store with a microwave and charging ports, and a convenience store. Tanya also made sure we had sufficient time and daylight (1.5h) at the glacier lagoon and diamond beach which was easily the highlight of the whole day. Fantastic day and worth the 14 hour travel on the bus.

Itinerary

Tour Itinerary

On this tour, you will travel along Iceland's South Coast on the narrow strip of lush farmland that cuts between mountains, glaciers, and the vast Atlantic Ocean. The journey includes stops at natural treasures including the iconic Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss waterfalls , views of Skaftafell National Park, Diamond beach and Vatnajökull glacier to name but a few.

Passing the southern edge of the mighty Vatnajökull Glacier roughly midway between Reykjavik and Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon offers magnificent views of glaciers, rivers and endless plains of sand. Vatnajökull Glacier National Park stretches over an area of 14,000 square km, or roughly 10 times the size of London.

Packed with icebergs in various shades of white and blue, the extraordinary scenery at Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon is sure to take your breath away. Various bird species can be seen feeding in and around the lagoon and seals are a fairly common sight both at the mouth of the lagoon and at the seaside beach.
