Start your New Year’s Eve in Reykjavik with the age-old Nordic tradition of the bonfire with our knowledgeable guide. Warm up and lift your spirits in the light and heat of the blaze before we find the perfect spot to see the citywide firework show and ring in the New Year
On the Bonfire & Fireworks tour we’ll experience two Icelandic New Year’s Eve traditions. We’ll begin with a Nordic bonfire, a tradition dating back to the Viking Age. The family-friendly atmosphere and the fire will warm us up as we sing along together, bid farewell to the old year and prepare to welcome in the new.
As midnight draws near we’ll find a good spot to enjoy the second tradition—a fireworks display like no other. In Iceland, everyone sets off fireworks at midnight all over the city, and when we say everyone, we mean everyone. We’re not talking sparklers, we’re talking real, dazzling fireworks. From a carefully selected vantage point we’ll get a view of the colorful explosions erupting all over the city, with a glass of sparkling delight in hand.

Everything is good
Total waste of money, don’t do it. They promise a new year glass of champagne (processco) to see the new year in ie midnight but had 3 bottles between a whole coach (60 people) and then we were told we can’t take the drink outside so have it at 11pm sat on a coach on New Year’s Eve. Also the viewing platform we were told we would watch the fireworks from was private hire so weren’t allowed in and end up outside. Fake advertising. AVOID!
The site was easy to navigate and the descriptions and cost were readily available.
The experience itself was amazing! The Icelandic traditions of the bonfire and fireworks were wonderful. The tour did not add to the experience. It simply facilitated it. We had to wait for two hours at the Perlon and with two kids that was less than fun. There was not suitable beverages available and we had to wait 1 hour to get drinks. I would suggest the tour operator find a way to fill at least an hour of the two hour wait. Christina our guide was very serious but softened at the end.
