This is a day pass on our scheduled Kjölur Highland Bus service, and includes a transfer from Reykjavík to Kerlingarfjöll and back. On the way you will drive through the beautiful countryside and pass some of Iceland‘s most iconic natural wonders.
The central highlands cover a large uninhabited area of Iceland that is mostly inaccessible for a large portion of the year. As the snow starts melting in spring, incredible landscapes appear that can only be appreciated and explored during the summer months.
Kerlingarfjöll are a protected area in the Icelandic highlands. The mountain range is located on an ancient central volcano, and is characterized by light-coloured rhyolite mountains and geothermal activity.
Kerlingarfjöll are an excellent place to visit if you are interested in geology, hiking and exploring nature, with multiple marked hiking trails of different lengths; some easy and others more demanding. The stop in Kerlingarfjöll is approximately 4 hours long. For longer stays, you can book one way transfers on separate days here: https://hl.grayline.is/
