Get to know Reykjavik on this entertaining and educational sightseeing tour that covers the city‘s top attractions, history, and culture
The Reykjavik sightseeing tour covers many of the city‘s top attractions, interesting facts, and stories that relates to history and culture in Reykjavik and throughout Iceland. Travelling the Reykjavik area and surrounding municipalities provides an excellent opportunity to discover various things to see or to do in Reykjavik during your stay in Iceland.
On this tour we will first take you towards Reykjavík seafront and show you the old Höfði house where an important summit between former U.S. President Ronald Reagan and former U.S.S.R. Secretary General Mikhail Gorbachev took place in 1986. On the way to Höfði house the bus travels through the area of Laugardalur (Hot-spring valley), a major centre for sports and recreation in the capital. The area is home to the city’s largest outdoor thermal swimming pool, a beautiful botanical garden and a small Zoo featuring Icelandic animals, both wild and domesticated.
From Höfði house we will drive to the Presidential Residence of Bessastadir where on a good day you have a spectacular view to many parts of Reykjavik.
Next stop is Perlan glass dome where a 360 viewing platform provides some of the best places for sightseeing in Reykjavik. After enjoying the spectacular view from Perlan over Reykjavik city and its surroundings the tour continues to Hallgrímskirkja church who's design was inspired by basalt lava columns, a common volcanic rock formation in Icelandic nature.
From Hallgrimskirkja church, the tour explores Reykjavik city centre also known as "the Old town" where the City hall and Parliament buildings among many other landmarks buildings in Reykjavik are located.
